Lectors

The ministry of the reader is described as one who reads the Scriptures (except the Gospel) at liturgy, recites the psalm between the readings (if there is no cantor), presents the intentions for the general intercessions (if there is no deacon) and “instruct[s] the faithful for the worthy reception of the sacraments.”
The last referenced task coincides with the description of readers in liturgical tradition as those who teach as well as proclaim the scriptures.
