RELIGIOUS EDUCATION UPDATE
Registration for Religious Education Classes will begin Aug 25/26 after all Masses and will continue until Sunday, September 16. Please register your child/children if they are going to participate in Holy Cross CCD / Sacramental / RCIA classes or the High School Youth Ministry. Classes begin on Sunday, September 16 at 12 noon. The Social Justice Ministry focuses on the church's role in undoing institutional and systemic racism. It does not focus on blaming or calling out individuals, but rather raises awareness about how the deep and historic roots of racism in this courtry affect us all, even well-meaning poeple of goodwill. In this regard, the ministry hosts monthly Courageous Conversations which are open to the community.
As Catholics, we believe that life comes from God; therefore, life is sacred from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death. However, we live in a world and a society in which an ever-growing number of people do not believe in the sacredness of life. Therefore, laws are passed which allow for abortion and euthanasia. The Defense of Life ministry at Holy Cross speaks up for life in many ways; praying the “Memorare”, group prayer outside abortion clinics, inviting pro-life advocates to speak on abortion and the alternatives and making available pro-life information through literature and CD’s. If you would like more information and/or you would like to join the Defense of Life ministry, please contact Ed Mullen.
Igbo Catholics in Austin and sourrounding cities and towns are welcome to join our Igbo Mass the 4th Sunday of every month. For more info, please see our Igbo Community Mass page.
